Private Galluppi was aboard LST 531 which was participating in Operation Tiger. The exercise was a rehearsal for D-Day and the transportation of the troops onto the shores of Normandy. A German E-Boat fired several torpedoes and sunk the LST carrying the 3206th Quartermaster Service Company. Of the 251 Officers and Enlisted men of the Company, 201 were killed, wounded, or missing. Private Galluppi is listed on the Tablets of the Missing in the Cambridge American Cemetery in Cambridge, England.
